*Thank you for preregistering for the 2019* *National Convention* *of the
National Federation of the Blind.* Enclosed is some helpful information for
your week in Las Vegas. Stay tuned for more announcements as they become
available. More information can also be found on the NFB convention webpage
<https://www.nfb.org/libraries/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=14846&qid=2809562>.
Agenda

The 2019 National Convention agenda
<https://www.nfb.org/libraries/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=14847&qid=2809562>
is online in several formats, including Spanish. You will also receive your
own print or Braille copy when you pick up your badge in Las Vegas.
Notes about the Mandalay Bay

When you check in at the Mandalay Bay, the hotel will require a deposit
using a credit card, debit card, or cash to cover any incidental charges
you may incur during your stay. Incidentals include things like minibar
usage, room service, restaurant dining, and any other expenses charged to
your room. The incidental deposit will be $200. While this may seem high,
we have actually negotiated the amount down from typical Las Vegas
standards. Please remember that this deposit locks up funds on your credit
card or your debit card. This is particularly important because it means
the funds will NOT be available for use on your credit card or in your
checking account for as long as three days after you check out of the hotel.

The rooms at the Mandalay Bay have minibar refrigerators and countertop
displays. All minibar stock is electronically monitored and, if removed
from its standard location for more than fifteen seconds, the item will be
charged to your room. This means that you should not plan to clear out the
refrigerator to make space for your water bottles or restaurant leftovers.
It is important to note that the minibar stock also includes a display
above the refrigerator that includes two water bottles, coffee pods and
cups for the in-room coffee maker, and unrefrigerated snacks. If you do not
plan to pay for these items when you leave, you should consider buying your
snacks and beverages elsewhere, and not moving those items from the display
tray.
Exhibit Hall and Independence Market

The exhibit hall and Independence Market will be located in the Islander
Ballroom at the Mandalay Bay North Convention Center. More information
about the 2019 offerings and exhibitors is available online
<https://www.nfb.org/libraries/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=14848&qid=2809562>
and don't forget to check out this year's exhibit hall announcements and
promotions
<https://www.nfb.org/libraries/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=14849&qid=2809562>.
2019 exhibit hall hours of operation are:

   open 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

   - Thursday, July 11, noon to 1:45 p.m.

As always, we bring the entire Independence Market to the convention and
set up in the exhibit hall. Once visitors enter the exhibit hall, the
Independence Market will be in the front left corner.
Convention Special: Orbit Reader 20

This simple and affordable refreshable Braille display serves as a
standalone text reader and basic notetaker. When paired with a smart phone
or computer, it gives Braille access to the text on these devices. Purchase
it at convention for $549.00, which is $50.00 off the retail price. Please
note that the Orbit is only available from the Independence Market at
convention, not thereafter.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
