You may have heard that Aira is free to use on the T

On May 3, 2019, The MBTA announced the launch of a free six-month accessibility technology pilot called “AccessAI” featuring Aira at a kick-off event and live demonstration held at Government Center Station with General Manager Steve Poftak, Assistant General Manager of System-wide Accessibility Laura Brelsford, Aira Co-Founder and CEO Suman Kanuganti, Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired Executive Director Sassy Outwater-Wright, and AT&T External Affairs Assistant Vice President Brooke Thomson. Local elected officials and members of the
blind and low vision community were also in attendance.

How you can get free Aira on your city’s public transport

If you have personally benefited or simply want to help us achieve our mission of instant access to visual information for anyone, anytime, anywhere then here’s how you can help.

There are several ways you can help get free Aira Access set up on your city’s public transport.

1. Get in touch with your city’s transit authority and let them know you want free access to Aira while traveling. Now that the MBTA is collaborating with Aira, it serves as a great example for other transit authorities to follow. Feel free to use the AccessAI pilot as a reference for what you want to see happen.

2. Direct people to our Business Access webpage to learn about Aira Access and how they can procure it for their organization. We also have an accessible flyer that you can share.

3. If you have a contact at your local transit authority, forward this email to them. They can also call us at 1-800-835-1934 to speak with an Aira Access specialist who will explain how everything works and how they can procure Aira Access.

4. If you know someone who works for your city’s transit authority, but you don’t feel comfortable approaching them about Aira Access, that’s okay! Share their contact details with us and we’ll get in touch with them and take it from there. Simply reply to this email with whatever information you have, ideally their:
                                •. Name
                                •. Phone number and/or email
•. Name of transit authority and city
                                •. Role in the organization

The more information you can share, the easier it will be for us to approach them.

Why help?

It’s Aira’s mission to provide equal access to visual information to everyone, everywhere. To achieve that, we need to get as many organizations as possible to join the Aira Access Network. We believe that by showing the right people there is a genuine desire and need for free Aira Access, we can inspire them to sponsor the service.

Simply put, the more Aira Access Partners we have, the more that the blind and low-vision community can benefit, leveling the playing field to provide not just equal access, but equal opportunities too.

>From everyone here at Aira, we thank you in advance for any help you can provide in getting us to speak with the right people.
