Hello Vanessa,
This is Myrna from CODA.

SHOWAbility (formerly ABEL 2 - we changed our brand name in 2020) are
occasionally contacted by casting agencies seeking actors to audition for
film and TV roles. Because this is right in line with SHOWAbility's
mission which is to facilitate employment and enjoyment for artists and
audiences on the disability spectrum we have expanded our program offerings
to serve as a booking agent for actors on the disability spectrum.

I was contacted TODAY about a photo shoot opportunity for a blind/visually
impaired person based in NYC (or someone who can get to NYC if selected).
They need the person for the photo shoot NEXT WEEK (June 21-22, 2021) .
Needless to say, the person would need to respond to me ASAP.

Here are the DETAILS:
They are casting a photo shoot for an accessibility device that will help
people who are blind or who have low vision. They are casting real people
who are blind or with low vision, 20s-40s and in the NYC area. Talent will
be photographed using the accessibility device. We are looking for real
people who might actually use this device. *No modeling or acting
experience is necessary!* THIS IS A PAID OPPORTUNITY.

That said, I have three questions:
1) Not that I expect you to, but do you know anyone in NYC who might be
interested that meets their specs?
2) Do you have a friend/contact at CVI who has ready access to the CVI
comparable in NYC?
3) Do you have a friend/contact at other organizations in GA (i.e. GA
Academy for the Blind, GA Institute for the Blind, GA Council for the
Blind, etc.) that might know of actors who might be interested in
auditioning? You never know who knows whom.

If you personally know anyone who might be interested, here is what I need
from them:

   1. Name, phone number, email address, where you're located
   2. A few sentences about why you are a fit for this project (based on
   the details above)
   3. Photo of yourself (it does not have to be a professional photo)

Let me know, Vanessa.

All the best,

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
