[NFB_of_Georgia] Self Driving Tricycle at Convention

Everyone,

As part of the NFB of Georgia State Convention, we are offering short
tricycle rides right outside of the front entrance. For your time and
feedback, we will give a $20 gift card. A little bit about the project: we
are a research lab from Boston University working on a project with Dan
Parker, The Blind Machinist, to develop a self-driving tricycle designed to
provide greater mobility and independence for blind people. We have been
working on the trike and its autonomous steering and braking system, and it
is now able to navigate using cameras and computer vision technology while
you pedal. The system is safe, letting you know what is around you and to
slow down or brake if needed. Dan successfully rode the tricycle
autonomously for about a mile around his neighborhood.
We are now at the stage where we would really like to learn from people who
try it. We are happy to offer short test rides. We are in the circular area
right in front of the entrance to the hotel, on the left side if exiting
from the hotel front door. You are welcomed to come and do a test ride on
Friday or Saturday between 9AM and 5PM, and give us your honest feedback
about the experience. We are especially interested in your first-hand
experience as a rider, as your feedback will help us understand the user
experience and make the system more useful, comfortable, and accessible. We
want to understand things like how comfortable and intuitive the system is
and what features you would like.
