<p style="margin:1em 0px"><strong>Financial institutions have been made aware of a social media scam requesting financial assistance in the form of gift cards. After the gift cards are sent, the individual states the gift cards do not work and will give the customer instructions that lead to the customer calling fraudulent phone numbers. The final goal is for the customer to scan a QR code at a Bitcoin ATM at which point their account is drained. The key to keeping your account secure is to stay vigilant and know when to ask questions.</strong></p>

<p style="margin:1em 0px"><strong>Although you can't keep fraud from happening to you completely, there are some steps you can take to minimize your risk of becoming a victim.</strong></p>

<li><strong>DO slow down when you are reading emails and texts. Be suspicious of any that are particularly urgent.</strong></li>

<li><strong>DO pay attention. Scammers often misspell things or mispronounce things.</strong></li>
<li><strong>DO NOT open email attachments or click links unless you know the sender and are expecting the document or information.</strong></li>
<li><strong>DO NOT give away your User ID, account number, password, or any other personal information in response to emails, texts, or phone.</strong></li>
<li><strong>DO NOT rely on caller ID to tell you who is calling.
