[NFBA-Phoenix] East Valley Chapter BBQ and Pool Party Announcement With Date

Dear Federation, Please join us on May 20th 2017 at the home of Ruth Swensonand Jim Sohl, located at  311 West McNairStreet in Chandler, Arizona 85225 for our East Valley Chapter Annual BBQ andpool party. The event will start at 3pm. You may stay as long as you like.  The East Valley Chapter will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs! We will be providing the regular condiments and buns as well as the paperproducts, plastic ware and soda. Please bring your suit, towel and a side dish. Items that are needed: -Appetizers-Any special condiments that you may like-Chips-Dips For Burgers-Lettuce-Tomatoes-Cheese-Onions -Salads-Fruit-Veggie Tray-Casseroles-Side Dishes-Desserts-Water Bottles Jenny Kasl will be calling people to see which items theywill be bringing starting the 11th of May. She will be the food coordinator.When you think of something you can bring, please be sure to let her knoweither by phone at: 602-327-8241 or email: kasljennifer at gmail.com. We will be having two auctions at this event. JustinHughes has made a beautiful ceramic Coca Cola cookie jar with a basket that hewould like to auction to help the East Valley. Also, East Valley member LordesJohnson would like to auction off a High Tea at her home for 3 people. 1. Itis respectable to be blind. It’s okay to be blind. Being blind issomething that we need not feel troubled or embarrassed about, concerned aboutor emotionally exhausted over. It’s okay to be blind.
2. The real problem of blindness is not the absence of vision but isthe social misconceptions and stereotypes that exist about blindness. It is not the physical absence of eye sight but it is what society has come tobelieve about our blindness. We reject the misconceptions that society has andwe accept that the physical absence of our sight is not the big problem.
3. With proper training and opportunity the average blind person cando the average job in the average place of work.
4. Blindnessis simply one of many human characteristics, like being tall or being short,being big or small, being bright or average. Blindness is simply one of many
characteristics.
5. Blindnesscan be reduced to the level of an inconvenience or physical nuisance. 
6. Webelieve in the effectiveness of alternative non visual techniques.
7. Ifwe want equal rights we need to accept equal responsibility.
