Phoenix Chapter Meeting
5 May, 2018

President Kuhn called the meeting to order at 9:34. Tom Johnson led both pledges. Arlen Keen led the prayer.

The president called the roll. Seventeen persons were present, and one attended via the telephone.

Secretary Bloomgren read the minutes for March and April due to previous technical difficulties.

Final balance as of 3/3: $1680.14

Sharonda White moved, and Monica Nunez seconded. The chapter approved the March minutes.

Final balance as of 7 April: $1483.72.

A correction was made as to the resignation of a board member. The second vice president, Tanner Gers, has resigned, forcing an election at May's meeting.

Clarification was made as to October's fundraiser. The proposal on hand is either to do a bowlathon or a chile cookoff.

The chapter approved April's minutes.

Ben Bloomgren motioned to table May's treasurer's report, which Arlen Keen seconded.

Secretary Bloomgren played May's presidential release.

President Kuhn called attention to the rebuilding of the Christmas fund, adding $5 to the pot and asking for donations.

The picnic report was given, and approximately ninety people attended. This is the highest turnout in recent memory. So that the location of the picnic can be nailed down, president Kuhn requested that Ben Bloomgren contact the park in order to set up next year's picnic as soon as possible. According to Ben, venues can be booked six months to the day before the scheduled event date. A suggestion was made to put desserts in the shade, which is difficult to do. Voin White suggested the purchase of a tipi tent so that food can be shaded. Sharonda White suggested better ways of avoiding unnecessary hands in food. Servers must be very assertive, so that people don't thwart the serving process. Ben Bloomgren asked about the treatment of a supposed double booking. Feedback was positive, indicating that the park officials dealt promptly therewith. The city's posting of events in the venue helped alleviate any issues. President Kuhn suggested that the picnic occur either on the last Saturday of March or either of the first two Saturdays of April, 2019.

The meeting immediately thereafter descended into heated discussion, causing the unnecessary cancelation of the remaining agenda items of May's meeting. President Kuhn called an emergency board meeting for the intervening weeks for to deal with issues made unavailable by the madness.
