*Legislative Report National/affiliate Vicki Hodges spoke about the
accessible absentee voting law that was passed in AZ. The new language will
be sent out soon. This is a big win for us. People in this chapter were
instrumental in helping to pass the resolution at the state convention a
couple of years ago. In two years,’ time, we were able to get this
legislation passed. She is grateful to the members for working hard to pass
this. Brad mentioned that the affiliate board meeting is postponed to
enable the affiliate members to attend Justin Hughes’ celebration of life.
The board meeting will be held in June. Mike Faleece of the East Valley
Chapter spoke about the kind character that Justin had. *
*Donald Porterfield, Affiliate President spoke about the warmth and
kindness that Justin showed. He showed up to everything that he could
despite the amount of effort that it took for him. Justin was dedicated to
the federation throughout his life. *
*In other affiliate news, Donald received another distribution from the
trust. He requests that people reach out to him for help with convention
funds. He also reported that the voting bill passed. The next phase will be
to implement the bill. The implementation of the early voting bill will
tell us whether we will need to pursue any type of litigation. More details
to come. *
*plans are underway for the state convention. They have received a proposal
for the affiliate convention hotel at the university Marriott in Tucson.
COVID is still with us and is still impacting people. the proposal is under
consideration. Donald stated that The room rate has been negotiated down to
109 per night. *
*In regard to looking for a national convention roommate, Donald has seen
people post on the list serv looking for roommates for national convention.

email with suggestions and information. Affiliates need to get
contributions into the national office by August 31. *

Membership, social, and outreach committees to meet to discuss plans for
the October picnic and BEAM kickoff.
*Fundraising Committee* -T-Shirt Sales-Rachel mentioned that we are pending
approval from Donald barring a few questions that need to be answered.
Donald expressed concerns about the price of the T-shirt. The logo must be
set in compliance with branding rules. Rachel mentioned that we will use
the black NFB logo. Mike mentioned that the national office is selling NFB
jackets. Donald says that this would not be a conflict of interest just
additional competition. He mentioned we could post on the list serv. Since
the national office has set up a specific website to sell things at the
convention. The price might put us out of the competition. He wants to know
if the price point is fixed on the shirts. Rachel mentioned that Betty has
been consistent in reporting that it will be $25 for the shirt, 10 we
receive, and 5 for shipping. It would be good for Betty to confirm the
price point. She is confident in Betty’s ability to do the full research on
the t-shirt. We would be selling this before convention. This product has
no overhead. Brad said that we do not have to keep inventory. Betty has
gone above and beyond.
*Technology Committee Joe Goode was not available to comment.*
*State Division and committee updates-Mark f reported that DAN is focused
on the October event. They are also planning a state convention seminar. If
you are interested in Diabetes, come to our meeting*
*Donald reported that Connie LeBlond will put in her name for the
president of the Senior division. The election will take place at the
convention. The chapter is the foundation of the affiliate, and the
division is where people go with a similar interest. The main work takes
place in the chapter level. Joy asked what a senior is. Donald reported
that to be involved in this division you just need to be interested in the
things that affect them. There is no age requirement. They have the senior
group meeting every Friday. All are welcome.*
