NFBA Board Members and Chapter/division Presidents:

Please pass this message to your members.

Federation Family:

As you may be aware, recently, the U.S. Department of Education has taken
part in the Reduction of Force (RIF( in the *Office of Special Education,
Rehabilitative Services Administration and the Office for Civil Rights. As
a result, many of the oversite mechanisms, expertise and other aspects that
states depend on from the Federal level are at risk of not working
efficiently. This could have a devastating affect on the services that
blind Arizonans rely on; such as VR, BEP, ILB and Special education.
Although the funding for the near future is secure, the staff reductions
make it so that the programs may not run as smoothly as they should. The
time for the NFB to act is now. Please join the NFBAZ Legislative Team on
Sunday at 2:00 to learn how you can participate in educating your member of
congress of the importance of these programs. The fact sheets are attached.*
