Unfortunately, HB2456, a bill that simply extends ASDB funding for another 8 years is stalled in the Senate after passing cleanly through the house. This bill is assigned to three committees in the Senate: Education, Government and Appropriations. Normally this sort of thing is no big deal and the bill should go through easily. But because it is assigned to three different committees, we think there is a chance that it may be amended to include other items like expanding the scope of disabilities allowed in ASDB. I heard there is a hearing scheduled for Wednesday 3/29 at 10:00 in the Senate Government committee. More info on this to come, but please if you can, plan to be there and you may even think of testifying as to why ASDB should continue to be funded. If President Porterfield sends something out with specific information, I’ll send it out of course.
