Dear Tucson Community,
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in the Accessible Voting Machine Demonstration and our Tucson Chapter Meeting held on October 4th and 5th. Your presence and engagement made these events a resounding success, and we deeply appreciate your commitment to promoting accessibility and awareness in our community. It was wonderful to connect with so many of you, and we look forward to continuing these conversations and collaborations.
As we gear up for tomorrow's event, we want to remind you of the White Cane Awareness Day Picnic. Here's what you need to know:
White Cane Awareness Day Picnic
Date: October 15, 2024
Time:11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Location: Reid Park Ramada #1
Address: Near S Concert Pl, Tucson, AZ 85713
Directions: Ramada #1 is located north of the pond and Rose Garden, near a playground, which offers covered parking and access to a bathroom. The nearest parking lot entrance is on Country Club Rd.
Join us to celebrate White Cane Awareness Day, honoring the symbol of independence and empowerment that the white cane represents. This picnic is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy delicious food, meet community leaders, and engage with fellow participants.
Picnic Details
Food: We will be providing a variety of sandwiches, refreshing drinks, potato salad, and chips to enjoy.
Activities: Enjoy fun activities including cornhole, Uno cards, and opportunities to stroll around the park and make new connections.
Guest Speaker: We are excited to welcome Patrick Hartley, Planning Administrator for the Department of Transportation and Mobility for the City of Tucson, who will be sharing insights on accessibility and transportation in our community around 12:15-12:30pm.
Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can ensure we have enough food and refreshments prepared. You are welcome to bring your family, friends, and coworkers to partake in this celebration!
