Great thanks a lot. That's very helpful. What browser and screen reader
are you using?

Hi Tim,
I have used the chat feature on facebook successfully. When a new message
comes in, there's a small popping sound taht is heard. I find it easier to
respond to chats that are sent to me and don't realy know how to initiate a
chat with someone. When you hear that sound that indicates a new message,
refresh your screen reader's buffer and go to hte top of your screen to find
the message that was sent to you. I find it works well when someone else
initiates the chat.
