Hello Californians,
The following is a message from Jesse Hartle with a call to action about
quiet cars legislation. Please read and start making phone calls on Monday.
Congress will be returning to Washington for a lame duck session beginning
on Monday, November 17. We should take this opportunity to continue our
work on building cosponsor support for H.R. 5734, the Pedestrian Safety
Enhancement Act of 2008. Adding cosponsor support to this legislation will
be extremely helpful when we reintroduce this legislation early in the next
Congress.
Currently 80 members of the House of Representatives are listed
as cosponsors of this legislation; I have included the list by state below
this message. We should start to make calls to our representatives on
Monday, November 10, and urge them to join as cosponsors of H.R. 5734. You
should continue to make calls until Congress adjourns.
You may be connected to your representative's office by calling the Capitol
switchboard at (866) 727-4894.
California
Congressman Berman
Congressman Filner
Congresswoman Lofgren
Congresswoman Harman
Congressman McNerney
Congresswoman Linda Sanchez
Congressman Schiff
Congressman Stark
Congresswoman Tauscher
Congresswoman Waters
If your Congressional representative is not on the list get your chapter
members to call this week.
Thank you,
Mary Willows, President
National Federation of the Blind of California
