Materials
Education and Experience for Alternative Media 
Assistant: Education equivalent to
the completion of the twelfth grade. Experience 
in working with visually impaired
students is desirable. Additional specialized 
training in child development, education
or a related field is desirable. The Alternative 
Media Specialist also requires:
Two years experience in working with visually impaired students.
License or Certificate for the Alternative Media 
Assistant: Valid Library of Congress
Certification for Braille transcriber and/or 
Braille proofreader preferred upon employment.
Ability to obtain and/or maintain valid 
certification required for continued employment.
License or Certificate for the Alternative Media 
Specialist: Valid Library of Congress
Certification for Braille transcriber and/or 
Braille proofreader required upon employment.
Maintain valid certification required for continued employment.
