Web Access Update!

Disability Rights Advocates has two announcements on the Web access
front. First, we wanted to let everyone know that late claims are still
being accepted in the NFB v. Target case until February 7. So if you
attempted to use target.com before December 9 of 2008 while in
California and experienced any access barriers, but you have not yet
filed a claim, you can still do so until February 7 and your late claim
will be considered. To file a claim online or for information about how
to file a claim by mail, please visit www.nfbtargetlawsuit.com.

The second announcement is that Disability Rights Advocates is
investigating other business or commercial websites for accessibility
problems. Thanks to Bruce Sexton for getting the word out about this a
couple of weeks ago. I have just one slight correction to his message,
regarding our phone number below. If you have visited any major
e-commerce or business websites and encountered substantial barriers to
using those sites with a screen reader, we'd like to hear from you.
Please contact Karla Gilbride at 510-665-8644 or by e-mail at
kgilbride at dralegal.org.

Please also help us spread the word by circulating these announcements
to any other screen reader users in California that you know.

Thank you for helping to advance the cause of Web accessibility!

Sincerely,
Karla Gilbride
