Hey Jonathan,

The fact is that this is pretty much impossible while keeping the phone
to your ear.  The iphone is wired to ignore screen taps while the
phone is to your ear.

I'd suggest getting a pair of headphones, either wired or bluetooth,
and use them.  Then, the phone won't slip into speakerphone mode when
it's away from your head.

I'd also suggest joining the viphone at googlegroups.com list.
