Subject: Legislative Alert - Requested Action on the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act of 2009

Fellow Federationists:

Members of Congress have now returned to Washington after concluding the August recess. We must continue to contact members of the Senate and House of Representatives to urge members to join as cosponsors on the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 (S. 841 in the Senate, and H.R. 734 in the House of Representatives).

The House bill has 136 cosponsors at this time, while the Senate bill has 13. I have included the list of cosponsors by state on each bill below.

You can be connected with any member of Congress by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 225-3121. If your member of the House of Representatives wants to be added as a cosponsor on H.R. 734, he or she should contact either Emily Khoury in Congressman Towns's office, or James Thomas in Congressman Stearns's office. If your Senator wants to cosponsor S. 841, he or she should contact Doug Frost in Senator Kerry's office.

We must be unrelenting in our efforts to bring the issues that affect blind Americans to the attention of Congress in order to prevent our issues from being lost in the Washington legislative shuffle.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me; I have listed my contact information below. As always, I thank you for your hard work on this issue in advance.

Sincerely,
