AS I remember it, Bush the Younger did *not* reconfirm Fred Schroeder. He 
knew his days were numbered as soon as W was ruled to have won the election. 
I don't recall ever seeing anything about either Bush having squat to do 
with Fred's appointment as RSA Commissioner.

Let's apply a little logic here: why would Fred have left his RSA post if W 
hadn't wanted a Republican as his (Fred's) successor? Do you think the 
Office for the Blind would have been abolished as it was in 2005 were Fred 
to have still had any influence with the W administration?

Bottom line: just as with other administrations, Fred was out as soon as W 
was ruled to have been elected.
