Subject: FW: Implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act: Trainings in Oakland and Irvine

To: Mental Health Associates

From: Mental Health America of the Central Valley

The CalSWEC Mental Health Initiative trainings on "Implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Issues of Accommodation, Disclosure, and Stigma" is quickly approaching.

Following are the upcoming dates and locations of the trainings:

                Friday, March 19, 2010
CSU East Bay Conference Center, Oakland, CA

                Friday, April 16, 2010
USC Orange County Campus, Irvine, CA

The impetus for this training came from the CalSWEC Supported Education Symposium last year, as well as discussions at the CalSWEC Mental Health Initiative Committee meetings over the past few years. CalSWEC is bringing together Mental Health Stipend Coordinators, Faculty, Field Liaisons, Field Instructors, and colleagues in county and community mental health programs.

Mr. Jim Preis, Executive Director of Mental Health Advocacy Services in Los Angeles, will be a keynote speaker. They will also have a panel presentation with representation from a Dean of a School of Social Work, a mental health stipend program graduate with lived experience in mental health, and a field education faculty member. It should be a very lively discussion. The registration information is attached to this email (the training is free).
