Job Announcement
Title: Computer Training Program Supervisor
Department: Employee and Community Services
Reports to: Director, Employee & Community Services
Hours: Full-time, M-F
Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to support and supervise the
Computer Training Program (CTP) in Seattle and Spokane, and
successfully manage the computer skills training program for adult
learners with a wide variety of visual conditions and computer
experience at the Seattle and satellite locations. Curriculum
development is required.
Responsibilities:
* Provide supervision for CTP staff. Provide day to day support
and guidance as needed
* Identify, recommend, coordinate, plan and deliver all aspects of
the introductory, intermediate and advanced skills curricula for the
Computer Training Program
* Identify, locate and recommend standardized curricula for CTP
classes and Formulate curricula for customized training
* Determine instructional methods for individual training, group
seminars, demonstrations, meetings and workshops
* Ensure basic skills development
* Provide status reports using CTK database to document the
progress of each student
* Conduct assessments to identify individual skills and
organizational training needs through surveys, one on one interview and
group meetings.
* Coordinate with Employee and Community Services and Human
Resources staff to conduct effective outreach to Lighthouse employees
and others as appropriate
* Maintain files, provide documentation, data collection, reports,
and summaries as needed
* Develop annual budget and work plans
* Work with Communications Department to ensure funding and
marketing of program by hosting small and large tour groups,
representing the Lighthouse at community and governmental events,
presenting on technical and nontechnical topics to businesses and
community organizations and presenting at Lighthouse fund-raising
auction.
* Serve as a liaison with DSB, UW, other agencies and the
community to maintain positive relationships and ensure long-term
sustainability and success of the Computer Training Program
* Visit Spokane to assist with the development and support of INL
CTP program
* Provide ongoing information, support and training to INL CTP
instructor in Spokane
* Stay current with existing and emerging technologies and
legislation by attending local and national conferences and webinars
* Identify and procure technologies such as notetakers,
magnification systems, etc. that are job-related and contribute to skill
development and upward mobility for employees.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:
* Comprehensive knowledge of PC applications, including MS Word,
Excel, Outlook, Access, and Internet Explorer.
* Comprehensive knowledge of adaptive software and hardware for
people who are blind or sight-impaired such as screenreaders, screen
magnifiers, accessible cell phones, notetakers, digital book readers and
refreshable Braille displays
* Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend standardized
assistive technology and mainstream curricula and develop additional
materials as needed
* Knowledge of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973,
knowledge of Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act
* Understanding of issues regarding seating, positioning and
ergonomics.
* Nurture excellent relationships with assistive technology
manufacturers and vendor communities
* Ability to problem solve effectively
* Creativity & flexibility; ability to change approach as needed
* Ability to take initiative, function autonomously, and is
dependable.
* Professional demeanor
* Ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically about
the programs and services we offer and deliver such as services to CTP
participants, management/staff and external customers.
* Demonstrated skills to plan, organize, develop employees and
monitor program and individual progress.
* Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
* Demonstrated excellent written and interpersonal communication
skills.
* Willingness to work as a team member.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education or related field
required
* Strong technical skills and extensive knowledge of computer
hardware and software applications.
* Minimum 5 years of successful teaching/training experience.
* Mature judgment and sensitivity in interpersonal relations and
among diverse groups.
* Minimum 1 year previous supervisory experience.
* Proven ability to manage programs, set goals and standards, meet
compliance standards, implement processes and procedures to achieve
measurable program outcomes.
