Greetings,

We all know that braille is fundamental to literacy & independence for
the blind, but let's not forget that braille is also just a whole lot
of FUN!!

There will be fun and challenging braille activities on Friday,
October 14, 2011 during the coming convention of the National
Federation of the Blind of California at the Hilton Hotel in Newark
(October 13-16, 2011, more info at www.sixdots.org). Among these will
include:

--Learn to draw with a Perkins Brailler,
--Slate races, and
--braille games

This is a call for donations of resources & ideas to make this happen!
Please contact Serena Olsen offline if you are able to contribute

--braille paper, any size/quantity welcome,
--loan of a Perkins Brailler for the afternoon (I will provide 1-2),
--loan of additional copies of "Drawing With Your Perkins Brailler" (I
will provide a copy, but additional copies means more participants at
once)
--loan of a braille game (card, board, or otherwise,
--your time and energy to facilitate, assist, marshal, etc., and/or
--door prizes to make the activities even more exciting!

Thanks in advance for your support of an afternoon dedicated to the
idea that braille is for much more than just practical purposes
alone--it brings some of life's simple pleasures as well! I look
forward to connecting with you,

--
