Hello Jobseekers,

I would like to thank all those who were able to attend our visit with
Scott Blanks at the Lions Center for the Blind. Scott's advice
pertaining to interview preparation, professional soft skills and career
development was truly insightful. Hearing of his time spent in Sydney,
Australia, for the 2000 Paralympics was certainly a treat as well.

Our next two visits will take place on Wednesday, September 21, when we
visit Karen Rose and Wednesday, September 28, when we visit Tim
Godecker. Karen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in
the state of California, and provides counseling and psychotherapy
services to adults in the San Francisco Bay Area via offices located in
both San Francisco and Berkeley. Tim is an Applications Manager for
Information & Technology Services at the Federal Reserve Bank of San
Francisco. He has been with the bank for 14 years, manages a group of
15 IT professionals and is responsible for multiple application
development projects, performing high level planning, monitoring and
reporting.

To help with our planning process, please RSVP for either event as soon
as possible (preferably by Monday, the 19th). Tim has made some very
generous accommodations in order for our group to visit the Federal
Reserve Bank of San Francisco. He has been in direct contact with their
Police Services Department to expedite the check-in process for our
group upon arrival. In order for this process to go smoothly, we need
to submit a list of participants in advance of the visit, so early
confirmations are absolutely necessary. I will disseminate the usual
details pertaining to the visit (time, rendezvous point, etc.) in the
week prior to the event.

Our visit with Karen will take place in the LightHouse office at the Ed
Roberts Campus (ERC). We will rendezvous in the lobby of ERC, 3075
Adeline Street in South Berkeley, at 10:45 a.m. sharp on the 21st. The
Ed Roberts Campus is located above the Ashby BART station, a fully
accessible transit hub, and there is an elevator within the BART station
that connects to the ERC lobby. We should wrap up by 2:00 p.m. Since
we will be on a strict schedule, please give yourself enough time to get
to ERC by 10:45 a.m. If you find yourself running unavoidably late,
please call my cell phone, (415) 351-9534, to make the required
arrangements.

Participants are encouraged to bring their cane or other mobility tool,
as these visits are part of a larger blindness training opportunity.
The dress code is business casual.

We are very excited that both Karen and Tim have found time in their
busy and demanding schedules to meet with our group. These are two very
highly regarded professionals with a myriad of wisdom and perspectives
to share with us.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.
