Hello All:
I want to tell you about a wonderful trip that I just took to Fresno. Yes,
I said Fresno. You maybe asking yourself why anyone would spend five days
in August in Fresno. So let me tell you about the tales of an affiliate
president.
I took Amtrack from Oakland to Fresno to spend time with some blind friends.
I met several new people at the Central Valley Chapter meeting on Saturday.
The president of the chapter, Jan Kafton, will be organizing a group to
educate the public outside of a big Goodwill Industries facility on
Saturday, August 25. The members of the chapter were enthusiastic about the
commitment of the NFB to getting minimum wages for all disabled workers.
Then, on Monday, I spoke to a group at the Valley Center for the Blind.
There I also met many wonderful people who are putting on programs for young
people and adults in the Fresno area. I made a lot of new friends and
promised to keep in touch.
All of the people I met are planning on attending the fall convention in Los
Angeles on October 18, 19, 20 and 21. I encourage all of you to start
getting your hotel reservation so that you can go to our website and
pre-register for the convention. In fact, here are the links for the hotel
and the pre-registration form.

form which is located at
