Youth Services Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE: Primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating
and supervising programs and activities for blind and low vision youth
between the ages of 5-18. Requirements include being youth-oriented,
flexible, computer literate, and in possession of strong interpersonal
and communication skills to relate to a diverse contingency.
Collaborators include staff, volunteers, clients with blindness/vision
loss, parents, educators and other community constituents. The
position requires evening and weekend work on a regular basis,
including sustained periods at our camp in Napa County; it is also
less than full time in nature. The Coordinator needs to be experienced
in creating, coordinating and supervising recreational, educational,
and mentoring activities. This position also requires participation in
community events, including the ability and willingness to assist in
Agency fundraising activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education or equivalent: A B.A. degree in a relevant field - such as
Special Education, Child Development, Counseling, or a Recreational
Therapy credential, is preferred. A minimum of 12 ECE (Early Childhood
Education) units is ideal.
Experience: Comprehensive knowledge of the blind and low-vision
community, particularly as it relates to the visually-impaired youth
population, is required. Must possess at least one to three years'
direct experience working with youth. Experience in recreational or
educational programming desired.
Other: Current certification in First Aid and/or CPR preferred.
Experience Bilingual language skills, ASL, and/or Braille literacy are
pluses. Experience handling and reconciling cash accurately is also
helpful.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
*         Responsible for all aspects of youth enrichment programming
happening on evenings and weekends at the LightHouse, its various
properties and in the community;
*         Coordinating and supervising youth program participants and
volunteers;
*         Working with LightHouse staff, coordinators, assistants,
volunteers and clients to work as a team in projects and assignments
as tasked;
*         Monitoring requirements for various grants;
*         Coordinating teachers, volunteers and public speakers to
facilitate enrichment and wellness activities;
*         Coordinating active client participation for all sponsored
programs and events;
*         Ability to competently and effectively use the Microsoft
suite, including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel;
*         Working with Social Services; Rehabilitation Services; other
Youth Services Programs, to create programs that meet the needs of the
community;
*         Ability to teach and/or lead activities;
*         Responsibilities include the opening and closing of host facilities;
*         Providing First Aid or CPR if necessary;
*         Maintaining cleanliness of classrooms before and after each program;
*         Maintaining health and safety standards of host facility;
*         Attending staff meetings and departmental briefings as requested;
*         Maintaining client confidentiality and records documentation;
*         Monitoring program attendance;
*         Conducting program evaluations;
*         Processing and recording program service fees;
