Subject: Update on Space Available Legislation

 

Good Afternoon All,

 

     After two weeks away, Congress has returned to Washington.  Our House
Space Available bill, HR 164, picked right back up, as we gained 12
cosponsors this week.  Overall the bill is now showing 114 cosponsors.  We
now have support from a majority of the members of the Subcommittee on
Defense Appropriations; this is the subcommittee that provides funding to
the Department of Defense.  We also gained support from the Chairman of the
Appropriations Committee, Congressman Hal Rogers of Kentucky, and the
Chairman of the House Rules Committee, Congressman Pete Sessions of texas.
Attached you will find the lists of cosponsors.  I have again provided two
documents, one listing the cosponsors by state, and the other by party.  In
the Senate we gained one cosponsor this week, and now have 12 cosponsors
signed on to S. 346.  I have listed the Senate Cosponsors below.  I do want
to recognize our Oregon, and Montana affiliates for getting 100% of their
Congressional Delegations signed on to this issue.  I will try and find out
when the next district work week is scheduled, for those of you who want to
set up meetings with your members.  Please let me know if you have any
