Hello All:

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the people who
helped to make the National Federation of the Blind of California 2013
convention a great success. Our theme was "Everything Works, If You Do".
Most, if not all, of our speakers addressed the topic of employment.

A special thanks to Cathy Jackson who served as our national representative.
Cathy touched so many people with her story about growing up as a visually
impaired girl in Louisville, Kentucky and coming to her own as a competent
blind adult.

We heard from the Department of Rehabilitation, the Department of Education
and all three NFB centers.

I want to acknowledge the following people who worked tirelessly prior to
the convention and at the hotel to make sure that everyone was included in
the break-out sessions.

Registration: Tish Anderson

Convention Planning Committee: Tiffany Manosh

Door Prizes: Rochelle Houston

Auction baskets: Karen Steele and Debby Worstman

iPad training: Jim Carreon, Jerry Kunz and Jonn Paris-Salb

Employment Link: Silvana Rainey and Steve Clark

Exhibit Hall: Rick Watson

Monte Carlo Night: Joe Rutherford

Scholarships: Henry Wedler

I am also pleased to announce that we have two new members of the Board of
Directors. They are Rick Watson and Tim Elder. Re-elected were Karen
Steele and Rochelle Houston.

I would also like to thank Jason Holloway and Jana Littrell for many, many
years of service to the organization and promoting our philosophy. Jana
received our "Hall of Fame Award" this year and I was actually able to keep
it a secret.

Jason has served on the Board of Directors for the past eight years and will
always be our go to person for Newsline for the Blind in California.

Our convention next year will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in El
Segundo during October.

Love always,

Mary Willows
