Absolutely! Thanks to Lauren for all her hard work, and for starting this
fund raising discussion.

Thanks Angela. Both programs are assets to fundraising efforts. The Amazon
direct program will be sure to catch those purchases from users who don't
want to create an account with IGive. The more kick-back programs we can
establish, the better.

Hello folks,
Amazon donates 0.5 percent of eligible purchases through the SMILE
program, but 0.8 percent through IGive. I have signed the affiliate up for
an IGive account like the one I created for accessible science, and will be
distributing the link very soon.

Not to be a downer, but just to put it out there ...

This was buzzing around the nonprofit lists yesterday. Yes, it is a great
thing to do. Sadly, other organizations are giving charities more than what
Amazon is giving, but Amazon is easier to shop on so there's the trade off.

The big thing to note though, is that one, you need to sign your
organization up, and two, you cannot market via direct email and
newsletters. It says it in the fine print.

So, that aside, I still think it is great and will challenge us to think
creatively about how to market.
