Hi,
In order for us to get half fare on cabs here in Fairfield, we have to apply
and have a dr. certify that we are disabled. I think blindness doesn't
usually count, though they have certified several who work at Travis. We are
issued a picture DART card for 3 years and then renew it. The senior
discount card does not require a photo. Some people have used expired DART
cards with the cab company and other types of cheating. So that is probably
why disabled people in this area need to get a DART card with photo id on
it. They don't charge us for it, though. Some of us really need these cards
to sort of afford to get to work and back.

Hello again, NFBC.,
I picked up everybody's response just now and am responding immediately.
I was glad to just get Jim's response to my observation about theft. No, I
sure don't feel shot down at all, and I'm glad to be able to finally
participate in these conversations. Jim, you are right. Credit cards do not
have pictures on them. We do not have our smart cards up and running yet
here in Sacramento, but we probably will toward either the middle or end of
the summer.
Currently, we do have to pay only $3 for our photo ID's from Regional
transit. Each month we go down to the sales office and get a sticker affixed
to the card, which serves as a monthly pass. I don't think we have to go
through some of the hoops you guys have to go through, but I don't remember
what I had to do. Again, good luck down there. Dennis Russak
