The National Federation of the Blind knows that Blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future.
Every day we raise the expectations of Blind people because low expectations create obstacles between Blind people and our dreams;
You can live the life you want,
Blindness is not what holds you back.

Hello fellow Californians,
At this past convention, we talked a bit about IGive, an
online shopping service through which a portion of the proceeds of your
purchase is donated to the affiliate. IGive links to hundreds of online
stores, so you're bound to find whatever you want this holiday season, and
the IGive button allows IGive to record your purchases at those stores
without your having to remember to link through the IGive web site.
Furthermore, for each new supporter who joins and installs the IGive button
between now and Dec. 14, the affiliate gets a $5 donation. For more
information, and to start IGiving, go to
http://www.iGive.com/NationalFederationoftheBlindofCalifornia

Happy Christmas shopping,
Angela

Hello,
Our chapter members came together this evening to enjoy and to participate
in a chapter strengthening seminar event. The seminar theme was "Turning
Your Dreams into Reality". Our featured speaker was, National Federation of
the Blind, First Vice President; Dr. Fred Schroeder. We also had a panel and
discussion. Here's what stands out about this evening.
Tonight I saw hope, diamonds in the rough and mental wheels turning. I saw
one member step out of his comfort zone. I saw another member accept praise
for the autumn floral arrangements that he designed. Another member whose
health often leaves her homebound gave of her time by making baloney and
cheese sandwiches. One woman -soon to become a member, latched on to the
growing reality that she can become a blind business owner. A sighted guest
learned about hybrid cars and the Federation's legislative work in that
area. An agency representative stated that she learned a lot. Hmm. I wonder
what we'll do for a future seminar?
Warm regards,
Lisa Irving
