[Nfbc-info] taking the GRE using JAWS

Hi,
I did use Jaws for the writing portion of the GRE. However, it was on an old
computer that crashed when I had five minutes left on the writing section. I
ended up having to start the clock from the beginning and re-doing it, not
something I planned to do on test day.
I would go meet with the closest ETS testing center to you and chat with
them in-person. This is retrospectively what I should have done. It requires
many steps, as you probably know, to request accommodations from the ETS.
I hope this helps.
Best,
-- Hoby

Subject: [Nfbc-info] taking the GRE using JAWS
Hello,
I'm completing paperwork to request accommodations to take the GRE Revised
General Test. I have just learned that JAWS is not available. I have been
informed that ETS uses their own screen reading software. The woman who
shared this information stated, "It was an awful experience". What have
other JAWS users done to take the GRE using screen reading software?
I'm not thrilled about the idea of utilizing a reader and scribe.
Thank you for your thoughts and for sharing your experiences and advice.
Best,
Lisa Irving
