CALIFORNIA’S GOVERNOR SIGNS AB 2264

On September 20, 2014, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law AB 2264 (Victim Compensation: for Guide, Signal, or Service Dogs).  This landmark legislation makes a person with a disability whose guide, signal, or service dog is disabled or killed due to specified crimes eligible for compensation from the Restitution Fund, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.



This groundbreaking legislation, the first of its kind in the Nation, has far reaching implications as it views and treats a Service Dog as an extension of its handler.



This historic legislative success is a result of a collaborative effort and hard work by a number of Calif
