[Nfbc-info] Nfbc-info Digest, Vol 121, Issue 26

Doesn't every police station have a coppy of the White Cane Act? If they
don't, they should. I know that when I was getting dogs at Leaderdog, they
would suggest when we went home, that we go to our local police station with
the dog and even show them a coppy of the White Cane Act. Also, you would
think that police would get some training in this while at the police
acdomy.

I guess things hae changed.

Hello to all,

It goes on and on, doesn't it? The incident in St. Louis is absolutely
reprehensible! What's more, it never had to happen. Apparently Officer
Clinton had no idea (if he even would have cared), that it is generally the
law (White Cane Law), that among other things, that guide dogs are almost
always allowed in any public place, including restaurants, stores, bars,
office and other Government buildings, and any place else the public
frequents.

We need to come up to the plate too, if we haven't already, and try our
best to educate and inform police about the white Cane laws in our state,
together with how to deal effectively with guide dog users.

On the elderly man who was decapitated, I'm sure everyone shares my belief
that if they catch the person who did this, that animal can never walk the
streets again. It reminds us what a sick society we have become.

      Dennis Russak
