Please see the below agenda for the November 23 Department of Rehabilitation
Blind Advisory Committee meeting. The Blind Advisory Committee meets four
times a year to discuss issues that impact DOR's services to blind and
visually impaired Californians. Members of the public are welcome to join
either in person in Sacramento or via teleconference.

Public Participation - Interested members of the public are invited to
attend the meeting in person or to join via the conference line.  To ensure
all attendees can hear the committee members, and the speakers, those
joining via the conference line are requested to mute their phone. If your

Agenda Times - Times are approximate and may be adjusted if pressing new
business is brought to the attention of the committee.

ACTION ITEMS FROM MAY 20, 2015 MEETING

ACTION ITEMS

*        ACTION ITEM: Ms. Cervenka will put a discussion of time standards
throughout the rehabilitation process (time between referral and call back;
call and first meeting, etc.) on the next BAC meeting agenda.

*        ACTION ITEM: Ms. Cervenka will find out who's responsible for
making sure the handbook is available in alternate format.

*        ACTION ITEM: Rosa Gomez asked Peter Dawson to put together some
discussion for the team managers on the issues of ensuring that counselors
receive a thorough intake and ensuring that consumers understand what
services are available to them, the IPE process, and the timeframe of the
IPE process.  She also asked him to report back to the BAC at their next
meeting.

*        ACTION ITEM: BAC members would like to see the SB 105 training
agenda.

the public forum held on Homemaker services and the work of BFS's Homemaker

Members will receive an update on items previously brought up by BAC members
about new consumer intake and orientation, variability on spending on
orientation and mobility services between BFS units, and BFS referrals to
residential rehabilitation services.

Update

Members will receive an update on the status and recommendations of the BFS
AT Procurement Workgroup.
