Bring unwanted, useable rigid or folding canes to the National Federation of
the Blind of California 2015 convention. The Pathfinders Chapter will take
them back to Los Angeles to donate them to Pastor Abraham's church. Pastor
Abraham contacted us because he visits a village in South Africa where there
are at least forty blind people who have absolutely no mobility aids. They
would appreciate having any kind of cane so that they can begin to know what
independent travel feels like.

We take the littlest things for granted. The California affiliate is eighty
one years old and we are still finding out about blind people who do not
know independence. Please help us to change what it means to be blind in
South Africa.

Please give a cane to a blind child or adult in South Africa and your name
will be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 gift card which will be given
out at the banquet of the National Federation of the Blind of California
2015 convention.

A table will be set up in the area of the registration table. Make sure to
get your name written down and entered into the drawing.

Yours in the movement,

Mary Willows

The National Federation of the blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams.

You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
