Dear Federation family,
We have truly lost an iconic leader in the movement of advocating for blind people. Geraldine Croom was the first leg of the mentoring I received when first joining the national Federation of the blind. I am so grateful to have been on the receiving end of her great wisdom and knowledge of the inner workings of the organization. Her relentless work ethic and passion for people made The transition easy for me to step into a leadership role. When I became a member of the national Federation of the blind in 2003, Geraldine was wearing to hats. Not only was she the president of the Guiding Light chapter, she was a member of the Pathfinder chapter 2. Jim Willows asked her to help out the Pathfinder chapter because at that time, the chapter was about to dissolve. This shows the dedication she exemplified. Her life on this earth was filled with love hope and determination. I thank God for putting Geraldine in the plans to help shape the direction that he wants me to go in. May God bless Geraldine and her family.

The national Federation of the blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want. Blindness is not what holds you back.
