[Nfbc-info] Need Some Recommendations

Chela,

I am no longer in the bay area, nor do I know of accounts who work directly
with blind tax payers. The rules and regulations are clear about deductions
and such.

I suggest you interview accounts, but as someone else said, probably H. & R.
Block is not the best place as they are a chain and mass produce returns.

I would help that the Lighthouse people could recommend individuals with
whom they have worked unless they are simply uncomfortable recommending
someone and being responsible for that recommendation. How about checking
with members of your N'FB chapter?

I can recommend someone, but he lives here in Southern California. Having
said that, he and we work via phone and through email. I don't even need to
see him directly as he has direct access to our files electronically through
an encrypted mechanism.

I do think you are better off for now working with someone you can see
personally. I hope others on this list will contact you off line and suggest
accountants.

Good luck.

Best Regards,

Michael Hingson

through an independent privately owned company that doesn't provide benefits
and such, I will have to find a reputable tax accountant that works with
blind people to help file yearly taxes. I know that on the TurboTax site it
states thatthere are certain rules blind people must follow and reading all
of it overwhelms me because I don't quite understand and would rather talk
to a tax accountant that specializes in helping file taxes working with
blind people. Seeing as is my new job will be starting November 3rd and it
will be my first job, I want to do the taxes and such, right. If anyone has
any recommendations for tax accountants in the bay area, that would be nice.
Specifically one who works with blind tax filers.
