[NFBC-Info] Richard Fiels Could use our Help

Good Morning NFB Family. I am writing to inform you all about what has been going on with Richard Fiels and his wife. Richard has been a member of the Parent’s of Blind Children Division for a few months and I have been trying to get in touch with him. When Richard was finally feeling up to accepting my call I learned that he was in the hospital with Coved 19. He is still struggling and has not yet been told exactly when he will be able to go home. I have been in touch with his daughter as well and she wrote a message for me to post here. Her message is below.

 

Good Morning!I am Richard and Sharon Fiel's daughter Karen. My dad and Sharon were hospitalized on 1/10 with Covid and pneumonia. It's been a really hard few weeks with lots of ups and downs. Sharon was discharged last week after spending 10 days in the hospital. My dad is still hospitalized and needs more time for his lungs to heal. Sharon continues to improve a little each day. She is on home oxygen and in good spirits. Yesterday was a particularly good day and she was able to breathe on her own for a good part of the day. She has physical therapy and a home health nurse several times per week and hopefully will continue to improve. Dad has had several set backs over the past week which took a lot out of him but he seems to be headed in the right direction and in good spirits again. The doctor is anticipating he will be discharged home Sunday 1/31. Once home, he will require home oxygen, physical therapy and a home health nurse several times per week. I created a go fund me account for them to help with Medical bills and essential expenses until they can work again. Please donate if you can and share on your social media.
