Wicked
In the Land of Oz, Glinda the Good joins the citizens of Munchkinland as
they celebrate the recent death of the Wicked Witch of the West. When a
child asks Glinda why wickedness happens, she reflects on the question by
discussing the Witch's backstory: born from an affair between the wife of
then-Governor Thropp and a traveling salesman, she was ostracized from birth
due to her unnaturally green skin and suffered a troubled childhood ("No One
Mourns the Wicked"). When asked if she and the Witch were friends, Glinda
reveals that they knew each other and explains their past.
Years earlier, Elphaba Thropp arrives at Shiz University to see off her
paraplegic younger sister Nessarose ("Dear Old Shiz"). Madame Morrible,
Shiz's Dean of Sorcery Studies, offers to privately tutor Elphaba after
witnessing an unintentional display of her magical abilities. Elphaba
accepts in the hopes that it will allow her to meet Oz's ruler, the Wizard,
and be "de-greenified" ("The Wizard and I"). To her discontent, she is
forced to room with bubbly Galinda Upland; the two clash constantly ("What
Is This Feeling?"). One night, Elphaba follows Dr. Dillamond, a talking Goat
who faces discrimination as one of Shiz's last Animal professors, to a
meeting of Animals off-campus. Dillamond reveals other Animals are losing
their civil rights and ability to speak, but Elphaba assures him the Wizard
will set things right ("Something Bad").
Rebellious transfer student Fiyero Tigelaar arranges to take a group of
students to the Ozdust Ballroom ("Dancing Through Life"). Galinda convinces
Boq Woodsman, a happy-go-lucky Munchkin with a crush on her, to invite
Nessarose so she can accompany Fiyero. At the Ozdust, Galinda learns from a
begrudging Morrible that she will be allowed to join the sorcery seminar at
Elphaba's request. Elphaba arrives and is ridiculed for wearing a hat that
Galinda gave her as a backhanded gift. A guilty Galinda dances with her
("Ozdust Duet") and later gives her a makeover ("Popular").
Dr. Dillamond announces that Animals are no longer allowed to teach at Shiz
and is forcefully removed from his classroom. His replacement, the
unscrupulous Professor Nikidik, attempts live experimentation on a
frightened lion cub, but Elphaba's magic spins poppy dust over the room,
putting everyone except herself and Fiyero to sleep. They escape campus and
release the cub into the forest. After sharing a moment, Elphaba laments
that Fiyero prefers Galinda over her ("I'm Not That Girl").
Elphaba receives an invitation to meet the Wizard, who has heard of her
powers from Morrible. Galinda, now shortening her name to "Glinda" in honor
of Dillamond's mispronunciation, accompanies her. They ride a train to Oz's
capital, the Emerald City, where they affirm their friendship while
sightseeing ("One Short Day"). After being introduced to the Wizard ("A
Sentimental Man"), Elphaba says she wishes to help the Animals instead of
changing her skin color. Morrible arrives to witness Elphaba and the
Wizard's first meeting, and the two encourage Elphaba to read from the
sacred Grimmerie spellbook. She casts a levitation spell that makes the
Wizard's monkey guards painfully sprout wings, allowing the delighted Wizard
and Morrible to use them as spies. Elphaba realizes that they are the ones
orchestrating the persecution of the Animals, and that the Wizard is a fraud
with no magical power. Horrified, Elphaba steals the Grimmerie and flees.
Glinda follows Elphaba and implores her to reconcile with Morrible and the
Wizard, but Elphaba decides to stop their plans. She bids an emotional
farewell to Glinda, who supports her but is apprehended by guards. Elphaba
repeats the levitation spell on a broom and escapes the Emerald City.
Morrible warns Oz that Elphaba is a "wicked witch", the students of Shiz
evacuate campus, Fiyero flees the school grounds on horseback, and Governor
Thropp suffers a heart attack as he and Nessarose receive the news. Elphaba
flies west, leaving Glinda behind ("Defying Gravity").

To Wong Foo, thanks for everything!
After tying for the win in New York City's "Drag Queen of the Year" contest,
Noxeema Jackson and Vida Boheme win a trip to Hollywood
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood,_Los_Angeles> to take part in the
even bigger "Miss Drag Queen of America Pageant". Before they depart, Vida
persuades Noxeema to take along the inexperienced "drag princess" Chi-Chi
Rodriguez as their protégé (they initially refer to him simply as a "boy in
a dress" rather than as a full-fledged drag queen). To do this, they cash in
their plane tickets to a friend, John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt (a
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_(style)> "Camp" name, which in reality
is the title of a song
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jacob_Jingleheimer_Schmidt> ), and use
the money to buy a yellow convertible 1967 Cadillac DeVille. They set off
for Los Angeles <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles> in it, carrying
with them an iconic autographed photo of Julie Newmar (signed "To Wong Foo,
Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar") that Vida took from a restaurant wall.
While on the road, they are pulled over by Sheriff Dollard, who hurls racial
slurs then forces Vida out of the car and tries to rape her. Vida strikes
him, and he is knocked unconscious. He is presumed dead, and the queens
drive off. At a rest stop, they recover from the incident, but their car
breaks down. Bobby Ray, a young man from the nearby small town of
Snydersville, happens to pass by and gives them a ride to a bed and
breakfast inn. The inn is owned by Carol Ann and her abusive car repairman
husband, Virgil.
They are stranded in the town for the weekend waiting for the replacement
part for their car. Chi-Chi is harassed by a group of rednecks but is saved
by Bobby Ray. While volunteering to help with the town's Strawberry Social,
they decide the town's women need a day with them getting their hair done,
picking out new outfits, and talking in a café. While searching for the new
outfits, they are ecstatic to find vintage fashions from the 1960s in the
town's clothing store and give the female residents (and themselves) a
makeover.
Following their makeover, they are abused by the same rednecks that
attempted to harass Chi-Chi. Fed up, Noxeema handles the situation in a
typically New York City manner and teaches their ringleader a lesson in
manners. Vida, Noxeema, and Chi-Chi do what they can to be positive, and
they set out to improve the lives of the townspeople, including offering
assistance in organizing the Strawberry Social. Meanwhile, Sheriff Dollard
is ridiculed by his colleagues, who believe he was beaten up by a girl. He
goes in search of the drag queens.
Vida becomes acutely aware of Carol Ann's abuse at the hands of Virgil and,
one night, decides to intervene, beating Virgil up before throwing him out
of the house. Carol Ann is able to repair their car, but they remain for the
Strawberry Social. Carol Ann reveals to Vida that she knew she was a drag
queen all along due to her Adam's apple
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam%27s_apple> .
Virgil runs into Sheriff Dollard at a bar, and they realize that the
newcomers are the same people Dollard has been searching for. They head back
to Snydersville, and Dollard demands that the townspeople turn them over.
The other townspeople, who now realize that their new friends are not women,
devise a ruse to protect them. One by one, they confront Dollard, each one
claiming to be a drag queen (in a similar fashion to Spartacus
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spartacus_(film)> ). Dollard is humiliated
and flees. The Strawberry Social commences with everyone dressed in vibrant
red outfits. The townspeople then say goodbye to Noxeema, Vida, and Chi-Chi
as they prepare to leave. In honor of their friendship, Vida gives Carol Ann
the autographed photo of Julie Newmar that has accompanied them on their
trip.
They eventually make it to Los Angeles where Chi-Chi, after having received
many tips from Vida and Noxeema during their ordeal, wins the title of Drag
Queen of the Year. The crown is presented by Julie Newmar herself.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
Spending the summer with the Dursleys, Harry Potter meets Dobby, a house-elf
who warns him not to return to Hogwarts or danger will strike. When Harry
refuses, Dobby sabotages an important dinner for the Dursleys, who lock up
Harry to prevent his departure. Harry's friend Ron Weasley and his brothers
Fred and George rescue him in their father's flying car.
In Diagon Alley, Harry, the Weasleys and Hermione Granger notice a
book-signing by Gilderoy Lockhart, Hogwarts' new Defence Against the Dark
Arts teacher. There, Harry sees Draco Malfoy's father, Lucius, slip a book
into Ginny Weasley's cauldron. After being blocked from entering Platform
Nine and Three-Quarters at King's Cross railway station, Harry and Ron take
the car to Hogwarts. There, they crash into the Whomping Willow, breaking
Ron's wand, and receive detention.
In detention, Harry hears a strange voice and later finds caretaker Argus
Filch's cat, Mrs Norris, petrified beside a message written in blood: "The
Chamber of Secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir... beware." One of
Hogwarts' founders, Salazar Slytherin, supposedly constructed a secret
Chamber containing a monster that only his heir can control, capable of
purging the school of Muggle-born students. To solve this mystery, Harry,
Ron, and Hermione plan to question Malfoy, using polyjuice potion, which
they brew in a bathroom haunted by Moaning Myrtle, a ghost.
During a Quidditch game, Harry's arm is broken by a rogue Bludger. Dobby
visits him in the infirmary and reveals that he closed the barrier to
Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and made the Bludger chase Harry to force
him to leave the school. He also reveals that the Chamber had been opened in
the past. When Harry communicates with a snake, the school starts to believe
he is the heir. Disguised as two of Malfoy's friends, Harry and Ron learn he
is not the heir, but come to know that a Muggle-born girl died when the
Chamber was last opened. Harry finds an enchanted diary owned by former
student Tom Marvolo Riddle, who opened the Chamber and blamed Rubeus Hagrid,
leading to his expulsion. When the diary is stolen and Hermione is
petrified, Harry and Ron question Hagrid. Professor Dumbledore, Minister of
Magic Cornelius Fudge, and Lucius arrive to take Hagrid to Azkaban and
remove Dumbledore from office, but he discreetly tells the boys to "follow
the spiders". In the Forbidden Forest, Harry and Ron meet Hagrid's giant pet
spider, Aragog, who reveals Hagrid's innocence and provides a small clue of
the Chamber's monster.
A book page in Hermione's hand identifies the monster as a basilisk, a giant
serpent that kills people who make direct eye contact with it; the petrified
victims only saw it indirectly. The school staff learns Ginny has been taken
into the Chamber, and nominate Lockhart to save her. Harry and Ron find
Lockhart preparing to flee, exposing him as a fraud. Deducing that Myrtle
was the Muggle-born girl that the basilisk killed, they find the Chamber's
entrance in the bathroom she haunts. Once inside, Lockhart tries to erase
Harry and Rons memory so he can document this as his own adventure.
However, because he seized Ron's broken wand, the spell backfires, erasing
Lockhart's memory and causing a cave-in that separates Harry from Ron and
Lockhart.
Harry enters the Chamber alone and finds Ginny unconscious, guarded by
Riddle, who turns out to be Slytherin's heir and Voldemort's younger self,
and he used the diary to manipulate Ginny into reopening the Chamber. After
Harry expresses his loyalty to Dumbledore, the latter's pet phoenix Fawkes
arrives with the Sorting Hat, causing Riddle to summon the basilisk. Fawkes
blinds the basilisk, and the Sorting Hat produces the Sword of Gryffindor,
with which Harry battles the basilisk. After a struggle, he kills it but is
poisoned by one of its fangs.
Despite his injury, Harry stabs the diary with the basilisk fang, destroying
Riddle and reviving Ginny. Fawkes's tears heal Harry, who returns to
Hogwarts with his friends and a baffled Lockhart, earning Dumbledore's
praise and Hagrid's release. Harry accuses Lucius, Dobby's master, of
planting the diary in Ginny's cauldron, and tricks him into freeing Dobby.
The basilisk's victims are healed, Hermione reunites with her friends, and
Hagrid is released from Azkaban.
