Please join our outstanding seniors as they introduce speakers and resources to enhance our physical and mental health.  Presenters include William Yates from the local YMCA to provide exercise demonstrations, Dr. Janet Parker will provide tips on how to conduct personal meditation and Amber Woods will give a presentation on local travel leisure options within the Washington, DC area.

Cheryl Fields and Marcy Carpenter will discuss ways in which our members can remain safe and supportive during Federation meetings and events.

Blind Woman’s Empowerment Event 

12-3 PM 

Please join the woman of the Federation to hear inspiring stories from blind woman from across the country addressing Mental Health in the Blindness Community

 

3:30-5:15 

This session will provide a healthy discussion on addressing and maintaining our mental health.  Shawn Callaway MSW will give a presentation on the stages of grief and loss in relation to blindness and Candice Chapman will discuss the signs and symptoms of major depression disorder.  

 

Blind Parents and Grandparents Meet Up 

5:30-6:45 PM

Please join us as we discuss the joy of being blind parents and grandparents.  This discussion will be facilitated by Shirell Scott, a new member of the Federation and a blind parent. 

 

Federation Family Feud 

7-9 PM 

Please join us for some high energy and fun entertainment as Federations compete to answer popular questions surveyed by the general public.  The host of this wonderful event is Libra Robinson
