Announcements:

Julian shared a few things in the tech corner. First, the iPhone
announcement is on Tuesday October 13th for the Iphone12. There will be 4
lined that are smaller than the SE2020.They made the size of the phone
physically smaller and make the actual screen bigger. There will be an
Iphone12 mini, a regular Iphone12, a 12Pro and ProMax. There will be
a touch I.D. in the power button similar to the iPad Air. Size memory on
the 12mini or on the regular Iphone12 might start at 64 gig. And with the
pro models may actually start at 128 gig. Watch this announcements on their
website: applivis.com, Apple TV or it might be able available in YouTube.

His second announcement is about voting. We've all been sent with ballots.
You have the option to vote by mail. For us blind people, it will be a
little bit challenging but there are other ways. The first way, here in
L.A., there's a website called plan.votela.com. Once you're in, a little
wizard will walk you through with this whole idea which is to help you make
a plan for how you are going to vote. You have to be registered by typing in
your name, birthday, and your street address. After doing that, you will
fill out a sample ballot and will take you to the questionnaires. Once
filled out, you can print the pole pass which would show QR codes that have
the answers that you marked down. The way how this would work is that you
have to put your ballot through a machine that could scan it. It will
convert it into a mode where you can review or change the things that you
have answered. Once reviewed you can convert it to a regular ballot. Now,
the other way, you can actually request an accessible vote by mail ballot.
This process works is you can fill out things online similar to the other
one that Julian had mentioned previously. Except that this ballot when
you print it out, you can put it in the envelope that is provided and take
it to a mailbox or to a voting drop box location such as the library or a
closest polling station. To learn more about this is to go to this website:
www.disabilityvoteca.net <http://www.disabilityvoteca.net> .

With his last announcement, since there won't be a Best In Tech, Julian is
considering to do a little workshop. A workshop to give information about
IOS14 and the latest iPhone. And if he can have someone round up to cover
the Android system. He's looking into having it via Zoom and he might
probably decide to do it in the middle of November. He will send the info to
the Chapter's list serve.

Juanita asked if anyone knows of anybody who may benefit from Spanish
translation for State convention, this year we will be translating the State
convention via Zoom. The application has been fully translated into Spanish
to register as well as welcome emails and all that. There will be also close
captioning for those who would need it. Please contact her for more info.

Robert reminded everyone about our Chapter dues and are now payable. There
several options. One of it is you can pay by a check made payable to SFV in
the amount of $10. But if you have the ability to pay through Apple pay,
Venmo or PayPal, that will be ok, too. With Zelle, you have to call him in
order for him to give the account information. For any questions, please
feel free to contact Robert.

He also discussed about the State convention's auction basket and theme will
be "Fall". We had put together a whole bunch of items. You can call Nancy if
you want to know the list of items. For anyone who would like to participate
in donating for the cost of the basket, you can send it with your dues.
When you send your dues, you can add $4. Thank you for Nancy who took
pictures alongside with our auction basket.

Robert announced the CAGDU social call which will happen this afternoon at 4
pm. If you're interested, you can call him so he can give you the Zoom link
info.

And with his next announcement, which is in line with Julian's announcement
about the voting. If you are a Newsline subscriber,NFB Newsline is
providing information for voting and all of the information that you would
need to read about any of the Presidential candidates and everything that
you need to know about this election are all in the NFB Newsline.

Lastly, this announcement is for students. The NFB and Pierceton who is the
biggest publisher of educational books of higher education have just
created a partnership. This came from lots of discussion from the National
convention back in July. They created a partnership so the NFB can monitor
and assist in helping Pierceton make all of their publications accessible
for blind and visually impaired people. This is a huge announcement!

Secretary Report.

Joy made a motion to approve the September minutes as sent out to our list
serve. Seconded by Joe and the motion carries.

Treasury Report

Robert will have to ask Malik to send out the report in the list serve.

Presidential Release items:

The next item is the NFB Newsline that was in the Presidential Release. If
you are a Newsline subscriber, there was an update to version 3.0. They have
change the way how it looks if you are using the iPhone app. They included
the KNFB reader. Now, when you're using Newsline and wanted to take
pictures for something, you can use the KNFB Reader. You don't have to pay
for it anymore, it's now available in the Newsline. If you want to become a
subscriber, Robert is willing to help you do that. He is the coordinator for
Newsline of California for the State Affiliate.

To order NFB mask, you have to call at the National Center to put your order
in. Once your order come in, they have to call you back and take your credit
card information.

The Presidential Release is live on the first day of each month via Zoom.

One of the thing that was discussed is the Accessible Technology
Affordability Act that has 128 co-sponsors and still looking for more
co-sponsor. The more that we have, the easier it would be for it to go
through the Congress.

Another thing from the Presidential Release is that, if you are a member of
the National Parents of Blind Children Division, you can contact the Freedom
Scientific and you can get a free one year license of JAWS. This would
help parents assist their children.

State Convention 2020

The free registration deadline has been extended from October 8th to October
15th. Pass this deadline, registration will be $25. The agenda will be out
soon in our list serve.

Now our Chapter Board has decided that we are going to give our
contribution to the Affiliate which amounted to $1000. We would also like to
give door prizes but we haven't discuss that yet. Robert opened the floor
for discussion and/or suggestion. Terry made a motion to allot $200 for
door prizes and seconded by Joy. And the motion carries.

Voting at Convention.

The way its going to work and this is for Resolution Sunday morning. Every 2
years the officer of the Affiliate and 3 Board member are up for elections.
What we're going to do is e when there is a vote, people are going to have
to raise their hand. You are going to find that under the participants in
the Zoom app. If you are dialing on a landline phone, press *9. With the
computer, the command for raising hand is Alt Y. With MAC is Option Y. Then
the host of the call will lower everybody's hands when the vote is over.

Joy made a motion that Robert is the delegate and Juanita is the alternate
delegate, seconded by Julian. And the motion carries.

If you know any vendors, please let Robert know. Vendors signing up is $100
not unless if they want to be a sponsor. One of the signed up vendors is
the robot guide dog and became one of the sponsor. For any suggested
vendors can go to our website: nfbcal.org. There is a page there for all
convention information and the link for the vendor/sponsorship. Exhibit hall
will be on Friday. All vendors will provide their own Zoom link. .

  For details, please contact Robert.

Fundraising.

Joy reminded and invited everyone for this afternoon at 2 pm with Pampered
Chef. . Call in via Zoom. 15% of all the products that you ordered will be
donated to our Chapter. If your order is $80 or more, you will have a
choice of 1 of 5 free gifts. If your order is $150 or more, you will have a
free shipping.

Juanita got the information for the popcorn fundraiser from the company
called Double Good. We need to set up an account and they will give us the
link. We can order different flavors and it comes in big bags. . 50% of the
proceeds will go to our Chapter. Your orders will ship directly to you once
you fill out your info and pay.
