PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

JOIN US ON MARCH TO STOP LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT ATTEMPT TO
CANCEL 50 YEARS OF CIVIL RIGHTS FOR PERSON WITH DISABILITIES.

On March 2nd , 2022 at 1:00 pm we urge all persons with disabilities, their
families, friends, Care Workers, Instructors, trainers and elected
representatives and the civil rights community to join us in protesting the
Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees decision to ask the
U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, March 4th, 2022, to deny claims of
discrimination under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of
the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

LACCD's thoughtless attempt to avoid liability for discrimination against
disabled students will impact civil rights cases for every person protected
under Section 504 and Title II of the ADA. There are 61 million people with
disabilities in the US. Statistics show there are 7.09 million persons with
disabilities in California and of those 967,573 are in Los Angeles County,
which is served by nine colleges run by LACCD. Disabled students will be
impacted first, but the entire nation will be affected if the Supreme Court
stops discrimination cases because of LACCD's bad case.

Calling all veterans and the formerly incarcerated to join us to save your
civil rights to a meaningful and effective education.
This is an election year, so make sure to let your elected officials know
you expect their support by telling LACCD fix their discriminatory policies
instead of taking them to the Supreme Court.

Call or contact:
LA City Mayor Garcetti
LA City Council
LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis
CA State Senator Durazo
CA State Assemblywoman Carrillo
CA State Senator Portantino
US Congressman Jimmy Gomez
US Congressman Adam Schiff
US Senator Feinstein
US Senator Padilla
And all other elected officials that represent you.

Please demonstrate that you care about the rights of persons with
disabilities to obtain an education by joining us on Wednesday, March 2nd at
1 PM, in front of LACCD headquarters in downtown LA, located at:
LACCD headquarters
770 Wilshire Blvd.
