[nfbcs] Downloading Bit torrent

Hi.
well, downloading 12 gb of the entire 7 seasons of star trek voyager.
i found on the net and downloaded bit torrent.
now, a question, says it will take 1 w 2d, does that mean it would take 1 
week, 2 days, can any one explain this for me?
got bitorrent 6.1.
now, my question, if i turn my machine off tonight when i go to bed, and 
turn it back on tomorrow.
will bit torrent remember the last download location and file, and start 
downloading from that point onwards.
is it smart enough to figure that out.
do not want to keep my computer running for a whole, week with it running.
can any one let me know and answer my question?
