[nfbcs] dvd-ram again

Hi all --
I thought I had it working as it started doing something when I told my ISO 
to be burned onto my dvd, but in the end I have a disk with nothing on it 
that gives me I/O errors when I read and when I write.
This should not be this hard.
I looked in the device manager and found my dvd drive is a Matshita DVD-ram. 
I assume that is writable, especially since roxio came with my laptop, and 
the thing was advertized as having a dvd burner.
But nothing works. I have tried UltraISO (which has a nice easy interface) 
with no luck and roxio which is a bit fuzzy in its UI, but I still can't get 
this thing to burn.
Could someone please make a suggestion?
It works to play audio CDs and to install software from cds, so I know the 
drive isn't completely bad.
