[nfbcs] DVR online programming

My cable company is advertising that one can program the DVR that comes
with a particular package through the Internet.  Has anyone tried this? 
Was it accessible?
Does everything get controlled online, including playback?

My talking VCR is getting very old, and the remote doesn't work anymore. 
If I could get some way to record a program without it being a big hassle,
it would be worth buying the special package, probably.
