Jim,

One possible solution might to be to send it to your friend as plain text.  It should be easier for your friend to change the display size in that case.  I think there is even 
a way to have Outlook remember that a particular contact should receive plain text but I don't remember where for certain.  However, plain text would probably 
default to however his display is set up.
