JAWS Versions 11 and 12 handle UI Automation.

To try to answer the original question, the 2011 version of Windows Live
Essential use a different way of writing to the 
screen.  It might be necessary to upgrade to the latest version of JFW, but
one should double-check that these apps 
are supported.  You might have some luck if you can get an older version of
Windows Live Messenger, but you almost 
have to get it from someone who saved it since it apparently isn't around on
the net.  It is my understanding that the 
latest version supports getting information from applications using UI
Automation, but I do not know if if there is a script 
for Windows Live Messenger, not being a JFW user.
