Hello Gabe and everyone,

What Pete said is correct so far, but let me add my specifics. Since my
father died in December, 2009, my brother has been my mother's money
adviser. I had called them about another personal matter on Wednesday and
mentioned my computer going down in a prior email. They were going to talk
about the computer situation and the other matter in the next day.

We move forward to Thursday afternoon. Pete had been on the phone with a
Dell representative, and they thought we had gotten a computer package that
would work. I sent the email to my sister-in-law's email address because my
brother was still home recovering from surgery, and probably will be for a
couple of more weeks.

On Friday, my brother wrote me back from his office email address saying
that, first, my mother was "a little upset" because it sounded that Pete had
written the email from the day before, and not me. This wasn't true because
I had written something at the end of the message. He had talked to his IT
manager at work, and the IT manager was quoted as saying "She could launch a
space shuttle with that computer." I sent my brother three emails Friday
night, one of them with information from Education Service Center, Region
20's Web site about the Dell student/personal use discount that the service
center has. My brother wrote back yesterday and said to send the quotes to
someone in IT at work, which I did last night--both the quote from Thursday
and the one I got from Dell last night. This particular technician from work
was the same one who discovered PC Performance on my other computer, so if
he should send me an email back, I will forward it to my brother as fast as
I can. The rep from Dell is supposed to call me back tomorrow to see what we
want to do.

In any case, I appreciate where my mother is coming from as far as her
income goes, but everything is very tense around here now between her and
me. I'm afraid if I talk to her now, I may say some things I'll regret later
and send her blood pressure up sky-high. I know they want to help because we
don't have the money to pay for a computer system in one lump sum, but I'm
not sure what to do. Any feedback you may have would be very much
appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

Mary Donahue
