Subject: [nfbcs] Javelin VS LS-Pro
Good morning Brian and everyone,
Thanks for the URL. I checked out Patriot's NAS offerings and discovered
that the Javelin is similar to the Link Station Pro from Buffalo
Technologies. We can order the Link Station Pro from Dell. I'll check to see
if they carry the Javelin. We're wanting to buy the drive plus cables we'll
need from Dell for networking all of our computers together so they'll all
have access to the NAS Drive. My computer is an HP Pavilion I've had since
2004 and its still running like a champ. With it being that old I feel that
a wired connection is a must. After resolving our storage issues it's on to
buying myself a new computer. Either one of these two units would meet our
needs quite nicely. right now our choices are between the Buffalo Link
Station Pro and the Patriot Javelin.
Thanks to a tweet on Buffalo's Web Site I was able to download the Link
Station Manual and plan to give it a read later to learn more about the
software interfaces to hopefully provide clues concerning its
accessibility. I couldn't find a manual for the Patriot Javelin but will
check again. Thanks again for your help.

Hello again Brian and everyone,
Do you have the direct URL to the company that supports Patriot NAS
Systems? I tried finding it earlier and received hits for Amazon and it's
brothers. I'd like to get to the site of the company that markets Patriot
NAS Drives to learn more about them. We do not deal with Amazon. Both
Buffalo and Western Digital's Web Sites are very easy to navigate with
screen readers. I'll see if Dell offers them as they sell other brands of
NAS systems such as Western Digital, Buffalo, Iomega, and a few others along
with their own NAS offerings. Talk to you later.

hi,
ok, you mean on the network without being connected to a computer such as
usb, then distribute the files.
the answer is yes, it has a rj45 port and is configured through a web page
interface.

Good evening Brian and everyone,
In cloud systems one feature you have is the ability to have your NAS or
off-site storage drive appear as a local drive on your machine in My
Computer or Windows Explorer giving you another way to access files stored
on them. Buffalo units allow you to access files via a private cloud, FTP,
or your Web Browser. If the FTP Component allows you to create an account in
a program like File Zilla or other Windows or Mac FTP programs and a
standard Web interface is used known to be accessible with screen readers
problem solved. I don't know about Patriot or Iomega but Buffalo also has
apps you can download and install on your iPod, iPad, iPhone, or an Android
phone giving you the ability to access your NAS remotely. Can you do this
with Patriot NAS drives?
It looks like we've ruled out Galaxy, Netgear and Western Digital NAS
systems due to accessibility issues. Iomega drives have been around for a
long time too. I'll need to check out their offerings. I should also check
Sandisk too as their products tend to be of a better quality at least their
flash drives are. If anyone uses a NAS system other than those mentioned
above your reviews particularly concerning accessibility with screen readers
will be very much appreciated.
