[nfbcs] LaTeX

One, less free option to investigate would be MathType.  You can type
LaTex equations right in a Word document, and a simple keystroke will
convert the LaTex to embedded formulae.

Not as cool as pure LaTex created with Open Source tools, but an
option you might consider regardless.
