Windows has this built in. Just be sure both machines are on the same workgroup.

If you just need to share some files, Dropbox is a fantastic solution, and you can even access files from your iThing or android phone. You get 2GB free, and you can get additional space by referring people or, sometimes, other ways.

Anything in your Dropbox folder gets shared to any of your computers that have dropbox installed and running on them.
